Von 1980 bis 1985 wurde der nordwestliche Deich durch das Wasserwirtschaftsamt Ommelanderzeedijk auf Deltahöhe gebracht, wobei es notwendig war, das alte Tor aus dem Jahr 1811 durch eine neue Entwässerungsanlage zu ersetzen. Das alte, zugemauerte Tor wurde 1986 Teil eines Land-Art-Projekts, ein Steinmosaik, entworfen von J.H. van Loon. Dieses Kunstwerk ist bereits von weitem sichtbar.
