Der Bahnhof Assen ist der Bahnhof in Assen, der am 1. Mai 1870 eröffnet wurde. Das ursprüngliche Bahnhofsgebäude wurde von dem Architekten Karel van Brederode entworfen und wurde 1868 erbaut. Es gehörte zu einer erneuerten Version des Standardtyps SS dritter Klasse.
Von 1905 bis 1947 gab es auch Personenverkehr über die Bahnlinie nach Stadskanaal. Diese Linie wurde 1977 stillgelegt. Quelle: Wikipedia
Die Bahnhofsumgebung in Assen wurde vollständig erneuert. Im Jahr 2016 hat ProRail mit der Renovierung begonnen. Die Arbeiten an den Gleisen haben wir 2017 abgeschlossen. Im Februar 2020 wurde der neue Bahnhof Assen feierlich eröffnet. ProRail baute ein neues Bahnhofsgebäude, zusammen mit NS und der Gemeinde Assen. Das neue Bahnhofsgebäude ist geräumig, nachhaltig und noch besser zugänglich. Das liegt an den neuen Aufzügen, breiteren Treppen und dem neuen Tunnel, mit einem Eingang auf der Ostseite.
