Es war eines der reichsten Klöster in Guimarães und wurde im 16. Jahrhundert vom Kanoniker der Stiftskirche Unserer Lieben Frau vom Ölbaum, Baltasar d'Andrade, gegründet .
Das Gebäude hat eine barocke Fassade und in der Mitte eine Statue der Heiligen Clara . Der zweistöckige Kreuzgang ist klassisch. Die reiche Kapelle wurde im 19. Jahrhundert geleert und heute befindet sich ein Teil der vergoldeten Holzarbeiten im Alberto Sampaio Museum.
Dieses Gebäude beherbergt das Rathaus von Guimarães .
