The building of the former Holsten Brewery Neumünster is located on Brachenfelder Street in Neumünster, Schleswig-Holstein. Today, the complex is called Alte Holsten-Brauerei and covers an area of about 20,000 m².
The construction of the new brewery building was commissioned by the limited partnership D. H. Hinselmann & Co, a brewery that has been producing top-fermented brown beer in Neumünster since 1760 at Großflecken, to also brew light bottom-fermented lager beer here. The foundation stone was laid on March 11, 1874, and the building is largely made of red brick. Since 1864, there had already been a cool cellar at this site. In winter, ice was stored there from the nearby Schwalewiesen to cool the beer barrels in the summer. The cellars are still preserved today under the former workshop, the building on Klaus-Groth Street.
