The hunting lodge Philippsborn was a hunting lodge of the Counts of Nassau-Saarbrücken in the forest near Malstatt. Today, the Neuhaus forest house stands in its place.
Count Philip III of Nassau-Saarbrücken had a four-wing complex with four corner towers built in the Renaissance style by the master builder Christmann Strohmeier in 1576. The complex was comparable to the two castles in Neunkirchen and Ottweiler, which the same master builder constructed for the Count's brother, Count Albrecht of Nassau-Ottweiler. The castle was destroyed by French Revolutionary troops on September 10, 1793. The vaulted cellar from the time of construction has been preserved. In the early 19th century, the hunting lodge Neuhaus, the current Neuhaus forest house, was built on the same site.
