Ya en 1654 encontramos rastros de actividades de elaboración en esta ubicación. A partir de 1904, Léon Huyghe inicia una cervecería. En 1925, la cervecería recibe el apoyo familiar de su hijo Albert y su yerno Louis Droesbeque, y la cervecería recibe el nombre de Cervecería L. Huyghe. Hoy está al mando la cuarta generación. El elefante se lanza en 1989 y desde entonces ha recibido reconocimiento internacional.
