Del antiguo castillo solo queda una imponente colina o motte. El edificio de madera original fue reemplazado a lo largo del siglo XII por un donjon de piedra. Este estaba rodeado por dos murallas y fosos de 20 a 25 metros de ancho.
El mottekasteel mostraba el poder de los condes de Henao. La fortaleza estuvo habitada hasta 1434, cuando murió el último señor de Bever. Después de esto, todo cayó en ruinas. En el año 2010 pastan aquí tranquilos vacas. Sin embargo, la tierra reveló algunos secretos. En 1964 se desenterraron muchos restos. Estos se pueden ver en el museo regional de Halle.
