Esta reserva, ubicada en el municipio de Westouter, se encuentra en un complejo de bosques de manantial, prados húmedos de manantial y terrenos secos de pendiente sobre un suelo pedregoso. En particular, las vegetaciones en un medio con este tipo de gradiente son muy variadas y ricas en especies. En particular, el prado de manantial (ver foto) en el Brandersbos (prado de ranúnculo) y las vegetaciones de bosque de manantial de este bosque pertenecen a las vegetaciones mejor desarrolladas de este tipo en toda la región montañosa de West Flandes.
