Este agua-castillo no está situado en esta esquina de Oetingen por casualidad, una submunicipalidad de Gooik: en este lugar se encontraron Henao, Flandes y Brabante. El camino donde se encuentra la propiedad era una derivación de la vía romana y todavía se llama Heerbaan. El agua-castillo, mayormente de ladrillo con un puente de piedra como acceso, era la fortaleza de los señores de Heetvelde y fue construido en el siglo XVII sobre los restos de edificios mucho más antiguos. Un foso, algunos tragadores y la torre donjon le dan un toque militar al conjunto. El monumento y el paisaje están protegidos.
