Aquí se talaron principalmente roble americano y castaño dulce. Estas especies no se encuentran de forma natural aquí, lo que provoca que haya muy pocos insectos en estos árboles. Además, sus hojas muertas crean una gruesa capa de litter, lo que interfiere con la capa de plantas y arbustos. Los árboles talados fueron reemplazados por cerezo, tilo y haya, mientras que los castaños dulces vuelven a brotar como madera de corte.
