Este edificio clasicista en Ruisbroek, de principios del siglo XIX, fue construido según el diseño de Ferdinand Berckmans. Es una joya de la arquitectura civil, con una galería elevada y llamativas arcadas de medio punto. Desde 1983, el antiguo ayuntamiento es un monumento protegido.
Hasta 2009, Museo De Bres tuvo su sede en este hermoso edificio. La asociación sin ánimo de lucro Museo De Bres fue fundada el 23 de agosto de 1976 para mantener viva la memoria de todo lo que le ocurrió a Ruisbroek en el desastroso mes de enero de 1976. Tras la restauración del edificio en 2011, el municipio de Puurs (ahora Puurs-Sint-Amands) decidió alquilar el edificio de forma privada.
