Eupen es una ciudad de habla alemana y es la capital de la Comunidad de Habla Alemana. Se compone de una parte alta y una parte baja. La parte baja está situada a orillas del Vesder. La estación de Eupen se encuentra en la parte alta y es el punto final de una conexión interurbana con Ostende, pasando por Bruselas, entre otros. En Eupen se encuentran algunos monumentos como: el ayuntamiento en estilo clasicista, cinco iglesias (Iglesia del Monasterio, Iglesia de San Nicolás, Capilla de San Lamberto, ...). En la plaza del mercado hay una casa de patricios.
