Preetz es una ciudad pequeña al sureste de Kiel en el distrito de Plön en Schleswig-Holstein. Preetz es conocida como la ciudad de los zapateros debido a las antaño importantes profesiones de los zapateros y, con alrededor de 16,000 habitantes, es la ciudad más grande del distrito.
El Postsee, ubicado al noroeste de Preetz, es atravesado por el Alten Schwentine, el Kirchsee en el centro y el Lanker See al sur de la Schwentine. El Kirchsee es en realidad solo un ensanchamiento de la Schwentine. La Schwentine fluye desde el Lanker See a través del Kirchsee en dirección a Kiel.
