El Instituto Max Planck de Radioastronomía se encuentra en Bonn-Endenich, en Renania del Norte-Westfalia.
Las principales áreas de trabajo del instituto son la radioastronomía y la astronomía infrarroja. El Instituto Max Planck de Radioastronomía fue fundado en 1966. Desde entonces, se inició la construcción del radiotelescopio de 100 metros de Effelsberg en Bad Münstereifel-Effelsberg, cuya puesta en funcionamiento se realizó en 1972.
