El castillo de Garz se encuentra en el lado este de la antigua casa señorial en la localidad homónima en la llanura de Temnitz. Garz pertenece al municipio de Temnitztal en el distrito de Ostprignitz-Ruppin en Brandeburgo. La finca está protegida como monumento.
El pueblo de Garz se menciona por primera vez en documentos en el año 1364, aunque probablemente sea mucho más antiguo. Es posible que se fundara ya en la primera década del siglo XIII en un asentamiento eslavo. El nombre podría derivar del eslavo gard o gord, que significa castillo.
