El Hörsel, en su curso de manantial Leina, es un afluente derecho o oriental del Werra en Turingia, con una longitud de 55,2 km y 64,3 km a través del Nesse. Su caudal medio es de aproximadamente 6,5 m³/s, de los cuales alrededor de la mitad proviene del Nesse, que fluye desde la derecha en el este de Eisenach, a poco menos de 10 km por encima de su desembocadura en el Werra.
Según la Ley del Agua de Turingia, el Hörsel, que representa el afluente más largo y caudaloso del Werra, tiene el estatus de cuerpo de agua de orden I y, por lo tanto, está bajo la responsabilidad de mantenimiento del Estado Libre de Turingia.
