El Museo Kaiser-Wilhelm es el edificio principal de los museos de arte de Krefeld, cuyo enfoque está en el arte de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. La construcción fue inaugurada en 1899 y está protegida como monumento arquitectónico de la ciudad de Krefeld.
Ya en 1872, el arquitecto de Krefeld, Hugo Koch, propuso que, en lugar de una estatua del Kaiser Guillermo I, se estableciera un museo. Sin embargo, el momento aún no era adecuado para tales ideas, y así, durante la vida del kaiser, se creó una escultura que fue inaugurada el 27 de junio de 1880 en el jardín de la ciudad en la calle St.-Anton. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, las bombas destruyeron la escultura de bronce.
