El cementerio principal de Limburg an der Lahn, que data de 1882, está protegido como un conjunto total del Nuevo Cementerio.
Después de que el cementerio de la catedral se volvió demasiado pequeño, se estableció el Nuevo Cementerio en 1882. La nueva ubicación se llevó a cabo en un terreno rectangular en Unterheide, en Schafsberg, fuera de la ciudad. El cementerio estaba rodeado por una reja de hierro forjado. Esta fue removida en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Solo las puertas del portal principal se conservaron. En 1965/66 y 1985 se realizaron ampliaciones del cementerio.
