El Elta es un pequeño río en la Baar en el distrito de Tuttlingen, que tras un recorrido de aproximadamente 16 kilómetros desemboca por la izquierda en el Danubio en Tuttlingen, aproximadamente hacia el sureste.
El Elta nace a unos 780 m sobre el nivel del mar en un área forestal entre Trossingen, Spaichingen y Gunningen en la Baar, en la ladera este de la cumbre más alta, Bildstöckle, del Lombergs, que alcanza los 816,2 m sobre el nivel del mar, junto a la K 5913 que lleva a Spaichingen. Fluye inicialmente hacia el este-noreste, saliendo del bosque hacia el área de Heusteig y allí recoge su primer afluente por la izquierda desde la ladera norte del Bildstöckle. Luego, después de aproximadamente un kilómetro y dos pasos por debajo de la carretera del distrito, se gira hacia un curso largo hacia el sur-sureste hasta el sureste y cambia de la localidad de Spaichingen a la del municipio de Gunningen.
