Koulés es una fortaleza en el puerto de Heraclión. Fue construida alrededor de 1540 por los venecianos.
Hay veinte habitaciones y almacenes en la planta baja detrás de gruesos muros donde aún se almacenan balas de cañón medievales. En el techo hay una gran galería que ofrece una vista impresionante del mar. Debajo de la fortaleza hay un oscuro y secreto pasillo (se permite entrar al principio), utilizado para escapar y sorprender al enemigo a la salida.
Cuando los turcos tomaron el control de Creta, la fortaleza también se utilizó como prisión.
Es un ejemplo notablemente bien conservado de la arquitectura militar del siglo XVI.
