Fundada en 1530 y consagrada en 1572, la iglesia pertenecía a las monjas gesuatas de Lucca. Fue completamente reconstruida entre 1707 y 1710.
El campanario cuadrado es de ladrillo y data de 1710. Fue construido para sustituir a uno existente de 1614.
En el interior, hay un órgano Agati del siglo XIX y pinturas del siglo XVIII. El Cristo caído bajo la cruz, colocado en un nicho en la pared derecha, data de 1705: se trata de una escultura de madera, recubierta de estuco blanco, realizada por Giuseppe Giacobbi para la Cartuja de Calci y trasladada al lugar actual en 1808 transferido.
