La torre de agua de Schimmert, apodada el Gigante de Schimmert, está construida en el punto más alto de la meseta de Schimmert, en el lado sur del pueblo. La torre de agua de 38 metros de altura data de 1927 y fue diseñada por el arquitecto Jos Wielders, quien se inspiró en la arquitectura de la Escuela de Ámsterdam.
La torre está construida en hormigón y revestida con ladrillos. La torre tiene un eje redondo con un reservorio de fondo plano sobresaliente. Las dos torres de acceso redondeadas conducen al reservorio y al pabellón del techo.
La torre fue restaurada en las décadas de 1970 y 1990 y recientemente, a finales de 2008. Actualmente, la torre tiene el estatus de monumento nacional. WML (Waterleiding Maatschappij Limburg) vendió la torre en 2015. El nuevo propietario desea que la emblemática torre se conserve para Schimmert y sus alrededores. Ha presentado un plan para establecer un centro de datos en la torre y utilizar el calor residual de todos estos servidores para calentar las viviendas en la zona.
