Fort Hedikhuizen es un antiguo fuerte que solía proteger la cercana coupure (un agujero en la duna para inundación). Si hoy en día quieres llegar al fuerte, aún tienes que pasar literalmente por ese agujero. Afortunadamente, ya no encontrarás soldados allí. La esclusa ha sido restaurada en este siglo y tiene el estatus de monumento nacional. El edificio del siglo XIX se encuentra aún en un estado casi original. También es un lugar especial para bodas y celebraciones.
