Hay una historia misteriosa sobre el viejo camino en el pueblo de Beek, cerca de Nijmegen, que data del año 1665. Trata de Katharina van Wyler, una mujer que fue considerada como bruja por la población local debido a supuestas prácticas impías. Cuando su hijo murió de peste y, tras el entierro, "fue devuelto a la vida" por ella, esto fue considerado como la evidencia definitiva de brujería. Katharina fue entonces forzada a matar a su hijo y luego fue ahorcada. Tras su muerte, todo el pueblo desapareció de repente; años después, nuevos habitantes regresaron, quienes nuevamente fueron afectados por oscuros eventos, incluyendo el asesinato de ocho niños por una mujer que afirmaba haber sido instigada a cometer el acto por una voz del bosque. Desde entonces, se cree que el espíritu de Katharina aún vaga y que tiene una influencia misteriosa y malévola sobre los alrededores del viejo camino.
