La Mokkebank es una área natural de 66 hectáreas en el IJsselmeer cerca de Gaasterland. Esta placa de arena cubierta de juncos, matorrales y arbustos está separada de Gaasterland por un canal cubierto de vegetación. Alrededor de la Mokkebank hay una reserva de aves acuáticas de 1.456 hectáreas.
La banca se formó, al igual que las costas occidentales, por el cierre del Zuiderzee. Esto dejó al este de Laaksum una placa de arena al descubierto. La placa atrajo a muchas gaviotas. Cuando el canal entre la costa sólida se llenó de arena, las islitas y placas quedaron conectadas a la costa sólida.
