La ferme “Nid de Cigognes”, à la lisière de la précieuse vallée d'Abeek, est selon la tradition locale le lieu de naissance de Pieter Bruegel l'Ancien. Le bâtiment d'origine date du 13e siècle mais a été reconstruit en 1866, après un incendie.
Au 15e siècle, le “Nid de Cigognes” appartenait aux comtes de Hoorn. Une allée d'arbres reliait la ferme à un moulin à eau le long de l'Abeek. Ce moulin à eau a été transféré au Musée en plein air provincial de Bokrijk.
