Le moulin à eau de Loonbeek faisait partie du château de Loonbeek et était déjà mentionné en 1495. Les gueux ont détruit le moulin et les bâtiments plus anciens datent du 17ème siècle. C'était un moulin ban et tous les habitants de la seigneurie de Loonbeek étaient obligés de moudre leur grain dans ce moulin.
L'ensemble de l'installation est encore présent et peut être actionné par une turbine à eau. La roue à eau a été remplacée par une turbine en 1952. Celle-ci se trouve dans la petite annexe au-dessus de l'IJse. Il y a 2 moulins à grain dans ce moulin à eau.
Près du petit pont sur l'IJse, à côté du moulin à eau, se trouve un poteau pour le point de jonction 216.
