La réserve naturelle flamande De Westhoek (345 ha) est la seule zone dunaire de la côte flamande où presque toutes les végétations de dunes sont représentées dans un paysage de dunes continu. Les attractions de De Westhoek sont deux percées artificielles à travers les dunes de protection contre la mer (slufters), par lesquelles l'eau de mer pénètre dans la zone naturelle lors de la haute mer et crée une faune et une flore exceptionnelles.
