La ferme, au 14ème siècle également appelée Hof ter Paelt et au 15ème siècle Ter Beke d'après le ruisseau voisin Paeltbeek, connu aussi sous le nom de Zennekensbeek. Tout comme la Petite Krankenhoeve et la "Nouvelle Krankhoeve" (voir Bonheiden), elle est une propriété de l'hôpital des béguines de Malines et en raison des vastes terres agricoles à Peulis, Bonheiden et Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver, elle est appelée "Grande Krankhoeve" ; on ne sait pas quand la propriété est tombée entre les mains des béguines, mais la ferme est déjà mentionnée dans leurs plus anciens livres de censive conservés datant de 1340.
