Edelhof était à l'origine un bâtiment qui appartenait au chapitre et a été transformé au XIXe siècle en maison de maître/château pour la famille locale influente De Matthys. C'est donc un exemple typique de 'résidences récentes avec allure de château'. Aujourd'hui, il sert de point de départ/porte d'entrée vers le Parc National des Hautes Fagnes.
