Le Roodebeek prenait autrefois sa source au niveau de l’actuelle église du Divin Sauveur, édifice situé avenue de Roodebeek, sur la commune de Schaerbeek. Le Roodebeek, ruisseau aujourd’hui disparu, se jetait dans la Woluwe à proximité de la station de métro Roodebeek (à Woluwe-Saint-Lambert) qui, comme l’avenue et jadis un hameau, lui doit son nom. Cette source jaillissait à 300m d’une autre source, donnant naissance à un autre Roodebeek (aussi dit ‘ruisseau Josaphat’) s’écoulant dans la direction opposée vers le parc Josaphat, de l’autre côté de la ligne de partage des eaux, et affluent du Maelbeek.
