La rue Belliard est ici étonnamment étroite (et calme) car le tunnel vers Louvain absorbe la plus grande partie du trafic. La place se trouve sur la chaussée d’Etterbeek, qui parallèlement au Maelbeek, relie les anciens centres d’Ixelles, Etterbeek et Saint-Josse. Pendant des années, cette place est restée en permanence en chantier. Mais dernièrement elle est redevenue agréable grâce aux nombreux nouveaux logements, à l’horeca et aux commerces. Sur le coin à l’extrême droite, le café-restaurant Grand Central attire les regards, il est réputé pour son ambiance internationale, et offre une vue splendide depuis le premier étage.
