Le crâne dans la partie sud de la chaîne de montagnes de la Haardt, à l'est de la forêt palatine en Rhénanie-Palatinat, est un col de montagne situé à 513,7 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer, par lequel passe la route du crâne d'ouest en est et où se trouve le refuge du crâne au sommet du col.
Le col est situé sur le territoire forestier de Maikammer entre le Rotsohlberg au sud-sud-est et l'Oberscheid au nord-est. À 2,5 km à l'est se dresse la Kalmit, qui atteint 672,6 m, le plus haut sommet de la Haardt et de toute la forêt palatine.
