Construite en 1897, elle est implantée au centre de la place Haute près de l'église. Elle est dûe à la générosité de Pierre Louis Bonafy. Ce riche commerçant, affligé de voir les habitants souffrir le long d'un sentier rocailleux et difficile pour se ravitailler en eau, légua les fonds nécessaires afin que le bourg perché sur une butte puisse disposer en tout temps d'une eau pure et abondante. Cette fontaine que les Chatelauds appellent "La Margelle" se compose d'une grande vasque circulaire où se déverse l'eau en permanence.
