Il abrite le Forte di Sant'Andrea, une grande forteresse construite au 16ème siècle pour défendre Venise. Sant'Andrea constitue une prolongation de l'île de Vignole, dont elle est séparée par un étroit canal, vers le Porto di Lido-San Nicolò sur le Lido, entre l'île de Venise et l'île de Sant'Erasmo.
