Le quartier est situé au sud-ouest de la ville de Groningen, encadré entre le parc urbain de Groningen situé au nord, les quartiers de Hoornse de la ville de Groningen avec Corpus den Hoorn et Hoornse Park au sud et à l'est, et Eelderwolde dans la province de Drenthe avec le nouveau quartier Ter Borch à l'ouest. La frontière du quartier s'étend depuis le Weg Der Verenigde Naties via la frontière entre les jardins familiaux du complexe Piccardthof et le parc sportif Corpus den Hoorn le long de la Schweitzerlaan et de la zone naturelle de la Piccardthofplas jusqu'à la Paterswoldseweg, puis via la Ter Borchlaan et la frontière provinciale retourne au Weg Der Verenigde Naties. Le quartier a été nommé en suivant le complexe de jardins familiaux d'après Jan Hendrik Herman Piccardt.
