Sur le canal Ruiten Aa et le Nouveau Ruiten Aa, vous atteignez Rijsdam. Ce petit village doit son nom à la digue en branchages que Carel Rabenhaupt a construite en 1627 pour diriger l'eau vers Bourtange. La bastion avait des problèmes d'eau car sa plus grande protection naturelle, le vaste marais de Bourtanger, s'asséchait. Aujourd'hui, Rijsdam est une région prospère. Enfin, l'itinéraire passe par une écluse et, au printemps et en été, à travers la réserve naturelle de Hankamp Esch.
