Il meraviglioso castello era originariamente un castello medievale. Era la sede della signoria di Munte e quindi la residenza dei signori di Munte dall'11ª alla metà del 15º secolo. Il castello ha resistito a numerosi assedi nemici ed è stato parzialmente distrutto in guerre successive, ma è stato ristrutturato intorno al 1900.
Vicino al portale d'accesso in arenaria vediamo la fattoria del castello, che risale al 16º o 17º secolo.
