La torre quadrata è un residuo dell'edificio medievale, altre parti risalgono al XVI secolo. Nel XVII secolo furono effettuate grandi ristrutturazioni.
I proprietari medievali erano le famiglie D'Houffalize e Brandenberg, seguite nel XVI e XVII secolo dalle famiglie van D'Eynatten, Berlo e Groesbeek. La famiglia De Lannoy acquisì il castello nel XVII secolo e lo mantenne fino al XIX secolo; allora divenne proprietà dei Berlaymont. Da loro il barone Adhemar de Royer de Dour de Fraula acquisì il castello nel 1920 e i suoi discendenti vi abitano ancora.
