La Riserva Naturale Fiamminga De Westhoek (345 ha) è l'unica area di dune della Costa Fiamminga dove quasi tutte le vegetazioni dunali sono rappresentate in un paesaggio dunale continuo. Le attrazioni di De Westhoek sono due aperture artificiali attraverso le dune costiere (slufters), lungo le quali l'acqua del mare entra nella riserva naturale durante l'alta marea, creando una fauna e flora particolari.
