Situata nel Condroz, a sud di Ciney, appena sopra la riserva naturale di Marie-Mouchon, il sito è composto da una catena di 5 stagni situati all'interno della foresta delle Cresses. Queste acque sono di proprietà del comune di Ciney e vengono utilizzate in modo abbastanza estensivo per la pesca sportiva. Alcuni di essi presentano una vegetazione interessante, in particolare bordi di canneti e aree paludose, oltre a piante acquatiche. Lo stagno superiore, che si prosciuga regolarmente, presenta gruppi di sedimenti esposti. Questo fa parte della riserva naturale della Plaine d'Ychippe, oltre ad alcune piccole parcelle adiacenti.
