Il ponte di Ludendorff è conosciuto come il ponte di Remagen. Fu una delle poche ponti rimasti sul Reno nella fase finale della Seconda Guerra Mondiale e gli americani lo conquistarono il 7 marzo 1945. Le torri rimaste del ponte si ergono come testimoni silenziosi nel paesaggio. In una torre si trova ora il Museo della Pace, che racconta la storia, la conquista del ponte, la vita quotidiana dei soldati che lo sorvegliavano e le vittime. Tra esse anche quattro ufficiali tedeschi, fucilati per ordine di Hitler perché non avevano distrutto il ponte. Il ponte di Remagen è un simbolo della liberazione dell'Europa, la sua conquista segnò realmente la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale.
Remagen è anche un patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.
