Baesweiler [con Dehnungs-e, pronunciato: ˈbaːsˌvaɪlɐ] è una città di media grandezza appartenente alla regione della Ruhr nella regione metropolitana di Aquisgrana. Per un breve periodo, l'industria mineraria ha caratterizzato la città, portando a un rapido aumento della popolazione.
L'area è conosciuta come Jülicher Börde e si trova nella baia di Colonia, il che spiega la composizione del suolo, che è di loess. Durante le ere glaciali, i ghiacciai sono arrivati fino a questa baia e hanno frantumato le rocce che avevano portato da molto lontano, dal nord. Dopo lo scioglimento, è rimasto uno strato di terreno fertile.
