Kempenich è un comune nel distretto di Ahrweiler in Renania-Palatinato. Fa parte della comunità amministrativa di Brohltal, che ha sede a Niederzissen. Kempenich è il paese più grande nella parte superiore della valle di Brohl ed è una località di villeggiatura riconosciuta dallo stato.
Il comune si trova al confine orientale dell'Hocheifel, circa otto chilometri a nord-ovest di Mayen. La Hohe Acht si erge a circa sette chilometri a sud-ovest di Kempenich, a poco meno di dieci chilometri a est si trova il Lago Laacher.
