Duissern [ˈdʏsɐn] è uno dei quartieri più antichi di Duisburg. Conta 14.685 abitanti ed è parte del distretto cittadino di Duisburg-Mitte. Il quartiere confina a est con il quartiere Speldorf della città di Mülheim an der Ruhr.
La città di Duisburg apparteneva a quelle città medievali la cui area non si limitava esclusivamente all'area all'interno delle mura cittadine. Il territorio della città comprendeva anche i distretti delle aree agricole e forestali appartenenti alla corte reale di Duisburg. In quest'area al di fuori delle mura cittadine si trovavano tre località: Wanheim, Angerhausen e Duissern. Poiché questi luoghi erano amministrati dal consiglio comunale di Duisburg, venivano chiamati villaggi del consiglio. Il villaggio del consiglio di Duissern era un villaggio stradale lungo il Hellweg Westfaliano, l'antica via militare franca, che terminava a est all'imbocco della Ruhr nel Reno.
