Greven è una città nel distretto di Steinfurt nella Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia. Si trova nella parte settentrionale del Münsterland come parte della regione Euregio tra Münster e Osnabrück ed è classificata nel piano di sviluppo regionale della NRW come centro di media importanza.
Greven si trova nel Münsterland lungo l'Ems. Il fiume divide la città nei due quartieri di Greven a sinistra dell'Ems e Greven a destra dell'Ems, che erano villaggi autonomi prima della creazione della città. Inoltre, presso Hembergen, il Glane sfocia nell'Ems.
