Il convento di Weißenstein fu una collegiata fondata intorno al 1137, dal 1145 un convento agostiniano, prima del 1184 un convento di monaci e suore e prima del 1193 un convento esclusivamente di suore vicino a Kassel. Dipendeva dalla protezione della sede arcivescovile di Magonza o di San Martino. Prima della sua dissoluzione, monaci tornarono a stabilirsi nel convento. Si trovava nel sito dell'attuale castello di Wilhelmshöhe.
