Il Gymnasium Herzog-Ernst di Uelzen è, insieme al Lessing-Gymnasium, uno dei ginnasi della città anseatica di Uelzen nel Bassa Sassonia. È stato menzionato per la prima volta nel 1333 come scuola di latino. Il ginnasio è intitolato a Ernesto I, duca di Brunswick e Lüneburg.
Le prime menzioni risalgono già al XIV secolo, ma solo nel 1535 il duca Ernesto cedette alla scuola la sua casa natale alla fine della Pastorenstraße. Tuttavia, già nel 1538 la scuola, che in quel momento comprendeva solo due classi, si trovava sul lato nord del cimitero appartenente alla chiesa di Maria. Nel 1792 la scuola fu poi spostata sul lato sud, prima di essere sistemata in un edificio in Schillerstraße nel 1904. Nel 1969 la scuola si trasferì nell'attuale edificio in Albertstraße.
