La diga di Niddatal sovrasta il fiume Nidda e il secondo affluente Läunsbach al confine occidentale del Vogelsberg. Il bacino ha un'area di circa 65 ettari. Si trova nel distretto di Vogelsberg, nei pressi e nel territorio della città di Schotten in Hesse.
La diga di Niddatal – costruita dal 1968 al 1970 – appartiene all'ente idrico NIDDA con sede a Friedberg e serve principalmente per la protezione dalle inondazioni e per il ripristino delle acque basse nel Nidda durante i periodi di scarso deflusso. Inoltre, la diga serve anche per la produzione di energia idroelettrica e per il tempo libero o il turismo.
