La fontana del giubileo si trova sul lato nord-est di Neumarkt, una delle piazze più importanti nel centro di Wuppertal, nel quartiere di Elberfeld.
Fu donata nel 1895 dal Club per l'Abbellimento di Elberfeld in occasione del 25° anniversario della sua fondazione - per questo motivo si chiama "fontana del giubileo". Si decise che avrebbe avuto la sua posizione davanti al municipio di Elberfeld. Anche la costruzione del municipio iniziò nel 1895. La posizione esatta, sull'asse di Friedrichstraße e vicino all'ingresso principale del municipio, fu annunciata dai padri fondatori della città nel 1900.
